247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received, this Friday (26), Dilma Rousseff, former president of the Republic and current president of the New Development Bank (NDB), also known as the BRICS Bank, at the Palácio da Alvorada. This is her first return to the official residence of the presidency in Brasília (DF) since 2016, the year the PT member suffered a coup d'état.

"Always welcome," posted President Lula on his social media. The post is accompanied by a photo of the two walking and smiling outside the Palácio.

During Dilma's government, Brazil officially left the United Nations hunger map. She also granted labor rights to domestic workers. Outraged, the backward elites began to orchestrate Dilma's unconstitutional overthrow.

In April 2016, the report favorable to the illegal overthrow of the president was approved by the Chamber of Deputies, with 367 votes in favor and 137 against. The process went to the Senate, where it was also approved, leading to the president's removal. The then vice president, Michel Temer, assumed office and began implementing a neoliberal agenda. On August 31, 2016, the Senate finalized the process, impeaching Dilma with 61 votes to 20.

However, the Federal Public Ministry shelved the case in February 2022, citing a lack of evidence. Still in 2016, the president was acquitted by a Senate expert report. The technical report showed that, "through the analysis of the data, documents, and information related to the Safra Plan, no act by the Exma. Mrs. President of the Republic was identified that directly or immediately contributed to the delays in payments," referring to the case of the alleged "fiscal pedaling."
