247 – President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) once again condemned Israel's actions in the Middle East this Monday (30), referring to the Israeli offensives against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in Lebanon as an "unnecessary slaughter." In his speech, Lula stressed that war "brings no benefit."

"That’s why I am against, and I condemn, what Israel is doing in Lebanon now, attacking and killing innocent people. The newspapers only show the leaders they want to kill, but the innocent people who die don’t appear," he declared at the Mexico-Brazil Business Forum in Mexico City. "That’s why I am against the massacre in the Gaza Strip. Because more than 41,000 women and children have already died. And then you’ll have to rebuild what took centuries to build."

Lula also criticized Israel's justification of retaliation for the attacks, stating that war is "proof of civilizational incapacity." In his speech, he further emphasized Brazil's desire to "be a zone of peace" and offered Brazil's availability to mediate in search of a solution to the conflicts.
