247 – Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes authorized this Tuesday (8) the unblocking of the social media platform X, owned by far-right billionaire Elon Musk, which had been suspended on August 30 for failing to comply with legal orders. The decision comes after a favorable opinion from the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet.

Gonet earlier on Tuesday expressed his support for unblocking the platform. His opinion was issued after the U.S. company paid the fines imposed by the Court. "The reasons that justified the decision on 08/30/2024 no longer persist. The previous noncompliance has ceased. The Attorney General sees no reason to prevent the company's return to operations," Gonet said in his statement.

With the appointment of a legal representative and the settlement of fines, only the official regularization of the company in the country remained, as ordered by Moraes. Now, the STF is expected to soon forward this decision to the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel). Moraes’ decision comes after more than a month of intransigence by Musk, who finally bowed to Brazilian justice.
