Haddad celebrates 'very expressive vote' and 'institutional maturity' after Galípolo's approval for the Central Bank
Galípolo's nomination received 66 votes in favor and only five against, establishing the largest favorable margin for the CB presidency since 1999
247 - The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), highlighted this Wednesday (9) the significant approval of Gabriel Galípolo for the presidency of the Central Bank, stating that the vote and the hearing held in the Federal Senate are signs of institutional maturity. The information was originally published by Folha de S. Paulo. Galípolo's nomination, made by President Lula (PT), received 66 votes in favor and only five against in the plenary, with no abstentions, establishing the largest favorable margin for the Central Bank presidency since 1999.
During the hearing held on Tuesday (8), Gabriel Galípolo received praise from opposition senators, which contributed to the significant result. "I think the maturity with which the hearing was conducted and the very expressive vote were very healthy. I believe it is a sign that, institutionally, things are going well," said Haddad, celebrating the result. He also mentioned that Galípolo will present to President Lula the names of the candidates for the three Central Bank directorates that will have vacancies in 2025. "We expect that by November it will be possible to hold the hearings. We will first submit the names to the president and then bring them to Senator Rodrigo Pacheco [President of the Senate] so that he can set a date with the CAE [Economic Affairs Committee] and later with the plenary," he explained.
